Fay's Wish (Now in Print!)

Fay's Wish is now in print!

Shayla, Princess of the Fay, must begin the journey to discover her true power by leaving the island. If she's successful, she will become queen. Her plight won't be an easy one, for there are those who would use Shayla as a means to solidify their own position of power.

Kyle, Shayla's guide in the human world, is destined to bring hope to the Fay even though his own future seems bleak. With Kyle by her side, miracles can happen, offering the promise of the return of the magic.

Once that happens, nothing is impossible.

As I entered the garden, the smell of succulent roses and jasmine infused me. I continued upon an emerald and ruby path, glinting like a wine-filled goblet. Gliding over pearls and bright quartz, I headed for the waterfalls, the soft lining of moss caressing my feet. My heart faltered. He was human.

“The real world doesn’t follow out-of-date rules. Where are you from?”

“A place you’ve never heard of. Where rules of the old still apply. You may not wish to believe it, but I am a Princess and have more rules to follow than most.”

“A dream Princess, from a dream world, then. What about then? Or now? Why give me my deepest desire, only to take it away?”

“That is for the Gods to know and for us to find out. Just accept this gift for what it is. The last of my people to break the law of mating with a mortal was punished, and the mate killed.”

“Gods! Mate! As in what we did?”

I could only nod. Who was he that he would refer to the ‘Gods’ as I had? Was I wrong, was he Fay?

“Are you all right? You seem upset or scared.”

The tenderness in his voice struck like a harp string and brought tears to my eyes. “I am fine, but you must understand we can never go any farther. We must never meet.” I suspected, unless we accidentally ran into each other on my journey, all this worry meant very little. But his beliefs still filled me with concern.

“Well, if this is all we can ever have, I guess we should make the best of it. My name is Kyle.”

  1. Kyle seems practical, a good trait.

    1. Hi Holly,

He is very practical and a tad bit stubborn...

  2. Your excerpt is almost lyrical in its composition.

  3. Really interesting bit here. Is he Fay?

    1. Hi Janet,

Thank you. Even he does not know if he's Fay or not... ;) That is revealed later in the story.

  4. Very nice excerpt! I like Kyle. He seems to know what's what and gets on with it.

    1. Hello Dee,

Thank you very much! Kyle is one of my favorite characters. :D

  5. Loved the teaser, Dee, beautifully written. Sounds like a lot of conflict in this book.

    Tweeted and shared.

    1. Hello Lyndi,

Thank you very much! Fay's Wish became one of my favorites and the effort put in by Cindy I think has made it shine really well.

  6. What a sad situation for her. But I have the feeling that they will meet again, regardless of the Fay rules.

    1. Hello Ornery Owl,

Love the name, yes there are a lot of situations in the story that test both Shayla and Kyle.
